Accomplishments: I developed a price lookup (PLU) server application for the mobile PDA market. It was developed in JSP, Struts, JavaScript, CSS and Java (POJO).

I performed maintenance and enhancements to a grocer application written in Perl and manipulating MS-Excel online spreadsheets.

I performed maintenance and enhancements to SofTechnics’ GeM2020 retail application for a branch of the military. This application was written in C and required interfacing to a Java based Web Service using GSOAP.

I am currently working on a new product for the grocery and soft merchandise market using cutting edge technologies such as Servicemix ESB, Service Engines (SE), XML, XSLT Transformations, XPath, XHTML and XAML.

Accomplishments: I was hired to convert this website from ASP to JSP. I converted all the back-office software written in BASIC to Java. The eCommerce portion of the site was not working in ASP. I got it working under JSP. I created a mySql database from the flat files that were being used.

Accomplishments: I developed the website for this children’s clothing store. This site includes an eCommerce online store. I developed the graphics using Adobe Photoshop. SSI is used to include a standard page header and footer. The site can be viewed at http://www.britchesnbows.us. I selected the HSP and the shopping cart software. I designed and coded both the presentation (HTML) and the back-office software (CGI/Perl). I continue developing and maintaining this website using Websphere’s WSAD IDE. The client’s objective was to create a low-budget eCommerce site.

Accomplishments: I was part of a new development effort to provide an international Electronic Parts Catalog application for Standalone and TCP/IP online environments for the Daimler-Chrysler Automotive Group (DCAG) project. The product was written using Java/Swing Rev.1.4.1 in a J2EE multi-tiered environment connected to a Transbase database.

I was also tasked to modify and correct existing code per change requests from the end-user (DCAG) and the internal SQA group.

I developed a new GUI Internationalization feature for the product supporting eight languages.

The product ran under the JRun4 application server. The JCreator IDE was used for development and debugging on a Microsoft 2000 workstation. StarTeam was the source control and problem tracking system used on this project. The development team consisted of about 10 software engineers.

The product was developed under intense pressure to meet a very aggressive schedule to satisfy the demands of DCAG. Management was very pleased that we met the first alpha release on schedule with all requested features included and all required change requests included.

This concluded my third contract with ProQuest Automotive.

Accomplishments: Provided flat-file data analysis using standard Unix system tools and utilities. For more complex analysis, Perl scripts were written and used.

Developed data reformatting and publishing applications using ProQuest’s proprietary Publishing Framework system generation tool. This required writing several (30+) Java classes and several Perl and BASH scripts. The applications (2) served the purpose of publishing data updates to OEConnection for loading into their CollisionLink automotive body shop product.

Accomplishments: Created Perl applications to obtain metrics data on the Mercedes-Benz (DCAG) parts catalog database.

Involved in the development of the Flexible Publishing Framework application written in Java and Perl. This was a GUI application tool used by developers to create a collection of individual processes that made up a system to collect, validate and process incoming parts data for inclusion in a distribution CD containing the automotive parts online catalog.

Accomplishments: Designed and developed complete interactive website including HTML (using FrontPage98), C and CGI programs (Unix/C/Perl) and graphics (using Adobe PhotoShop). The backoffice software, written in Unix/C/Perl, includes an automated database maintenance program and order processing programs. Website CGI programs included a user registration page and database search page. Order processing software was provided by CartManager, Inc. and required a C program to interface order entry with the distribution center (Galaxy Music, Inc.) via server-to-server FTP processes. Galaxy Music Product Manager complimented how quickly the site was brought on-line and functioning properly.

Accomplishments: Developed an internet/intranet website used to advertise the squadron and their boating classes, display a photo album scrapbook of squadron activities, a brokerage page containing boats for sale by members and friends, and several other pages. The intranet contains member-only information and is supported by CGI programs written in C++/Perl, JSP and Java Beans. Two utility JAVA applets and a JavaScript utility were written as part of the presentation layer. One applet converted statute to/from nautical units of measure. A second applet was a graphics intensive applet to exercise knowledge of maritime signal flags. The JavaScript utility is used to reduce celestial sights using the Law of Cosines method. The CGI programs were written to display member information taken from a roster flat-file, email list flat-file and a member interests flat-file. Another CGI program uses a form to search the roster database for members who fit user selected criteria such as courses taken, member interests, location of residence, etc. The databases were accessed using Java Beans. The squadron newsletter is available on-line in PDF format for downloading by members and another page displays items available from the squadron’s ship store. This website has won the United States Power Squadron website award for excellence for several years. This award was given to only 64 of over 250 squadron websites. I continue developing and maintaining this website using Websphere’s WSAD IDE. The site address is http://www.akronpowersquadron.com.

Accomplishments: Designed, documented, developed, supported and maintained a line of DOS based PC platforms (GCPs) used to bridge RF handheld computer terminals (PTCs) across an RF LAN to an IBM SNA LAN/WAN network. These GCPs emulated 3274, 5294, 5394 and 5494 IBM Cluster Controllers. The IBM host connectivity was via SDLC, Ethernet and/or Token Ring. The PTCs emulated IBM 3277 and 5251 terminals.

Knowledgeable with SNA, SDLC, Ethernet and Token Ring network protocols at the bitstream level and 3278 and 5251 data stream formats. Familiar with various protocol analyzers and emulators and proficient at troubleshooting network problems by reading SNA line traces.

Involved in pre-sales and post-sales support of all  SNA products. Trained field and support personnel and new employees to support these SNA products. Provided technical publications personnel with the documentation and direction to produce user documentation and field service documentation on the products.

Developed an SNA FID 2 and FID 3 protocol emulator on an HP 4954A Protocol Analyzer/Emulator to which I developed the GCP software for the GCS-3278 and GCS-5251 products.

Developed system utilities for the Financial Branch Automation controllers (FBS III) in 8080 assembler. Included a disk formatter, cassette tape formatter, system boot program and a system crash recovery and diagnostic program.

Project leader of Systems Integration and Verification. Wrote test plans, test specifications and directed a staff of seven individuals involved in testing of Financial products.

Developed an automated software library and release system for the BAS 5000 product.

Developed an SNA/SDLC host emulator for testing NCR SNA products in an SNA environment.

Developed the curriculum and taught evening courses at Sinclair Community College in the C programming language.
